It is that time of the year when the selection of films to watch is automatically reduced to a scarce few. Everything has to contain at least one Santa hat or some snowflakes at best.

Considering the difficulty of finding something that is in sync with the festive spirit but at the same time aesthetically pleasing, I think this week’s movie tip will not disappoint. As a big James Stewart fan, it’s actually a very obvious choice! This week’s Monday Movie Tip is It’s a Wonderful Life. As a renowned classic it is being screened at various London cinemas on various occasions throughout the week, so you have plenty of choice in deciding where to watch it.

My personal pick is the screening on Christmas Eve at 6:15pm, at the Prince Charles Cinema. The ticket will be £11 or £8.50 for members, but knowing the Prince Charles Cinema I’m sure it’ll come with some Christmas surprise that will make the slightly raised price worthwhile. Remember it’s still about the same price as two tiny cups of mulled wine at Winter Wonderland!

For those who haven’t seen the film before, It’s a Wonderful Life is a black-and-white Christmas movie full of real Christmas spirit. James Stewart portrays a generous and kind man called George Bailey who has spent all of his life selflessly helping others. George is happy. He has a lovely wife, four children and many friends, but in an unfortunate chain of events he ends up bankrupt. In the night of Christmas Eve he finds himself on the brink of suicide. Luckily there’s a guardian angel looking out for him. Will the angel manage to show George what he means to the community and convince him that his is actually a wonderful life?

Make sure you find out at this magical screening. Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone!
