A heart felt Christmas Wish from the [smiths] fashion sub-editor Sophia Hinton-Lever, to all those unlikely lovers of the garishly bright lights of the festive season…
The rise of the tacky Christmas is a phenomenon that has engulfed the holiday season for the last few years. With the influx of Christmas Jumpers, overly bejewelled Topshop collections and what seems to be an overly enthusiastic love for animated wintery films, the love of the British public for all things tacky has magnified into an ostentatious wonder, and we are unable to…‘let it go’.
However, rather that write a scathing article about the commercialisation of the holiday, and comment on how I hope and pray to the lord baby Jesus that Christmas suits never make it big time, I want to embrace all things that glitter, shine and fat men that drink your milk in the early hours of the morning.
So with the help of mulled wine and some mince pies, the [smiths] team were persuaded to adorn themselves with tinsel, novelty Christmas crap and their very best winter jumpers to take part in a festive photo shoot for your viewing pleasure.
‘Tis the season after all.
We do hope you enjoy seeing ourselves taking Christmas cheer and tack to ridiculous levels… especially for [smiths] standards. Although, more importantly from all of us within the publication, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a truly stonking New Year.
