Feride Morcay is a third year Media student whose practice focuses on screen fiction. She is originally from Istanbul, Turkey.
Feride’s passion to capture life started 6 years ago when she got her first camera, she has been photographing ever since. Most of her photographs portray urban life style from around the world – nature and individuals who reflect on the fluidity of identity. Despite appearing different depending on where we are all located, we all go back to nature. Feride finds nature the closest thing to freedom, and her aim of capturing differences is to show ‘we may seem different, but we are one.’
Feride believes that creativity requires being able to forget everything you know and construct your own reality. She finds that Goldsmiths helps to creatively ‘unlearn’ things and approach everything in a uniquely critical way.
Feride’s work will be appearing alongside other third year Media students from June 16th to June 20th at Goldsmiths, University of London’s BA Media Degree Show.
