If like me, you’re loco for Mexican food, then you need this list in your life. London is a hotspot for pretty much every cuisine, but the Mexican restaurants here are next level. Whether you are craving tacos, burritos, chimichangas or quesadillas, we’ve got you covered.
Corazon – Soho
Corazon is undoubtedly one of the best places in London to get your fill of Mexican cuisine. The tacos are incredible, with eight different fillings available (try The Guv’nor for some seafood goodness), but if that’s not your thing, then there are plenty of other authentic dishes on offer. Dinner will set you back around £10 – not bad for some great food.
Mestizo – Kings Cross
Not just a restaurant… also a Tequila bar! Sold already? No? You will be once you’ve tasted the enchiladas. Head to Kings Cross to get a taste of Mexico, with options including chilli, tacos, crepes and more, but if you want to try a little taste of everything you should go for the tapas. Three dishes will set you back around £20, and in exchange, you can sample empanadas, seafood, meat, tamales, quesadillas and more.
Wahaca – Various places
With Mexican food, it doesn’t always have to be a sit-down dining extravaganza. You can sample some of the best cuisine on offer at Wahaca food market on the Southbank, Canary Wharf, Waterloo, Brixton and Soho. The tacos, in particular, are to die for, with options including chicken, steak, cactus, plantain and pork on offer. If you fancy something more substantial, you can grab a burrito, steak, Mexican-style risotto and more – all at affordable prices.
Cantina Laredo – Covent Garden
This Mexican eatery is surprisingly affordable despite its incredible dishes. The vegetarian enchilada – Enchiladas De Chile Poblano – is particularly delicious, especially when paired with the Papas con Crema y Chile Ancho (creamy potato goodness). If you head over there between noon and 6.30pm, you can take advantage of the lunch menu, which boasts two courses for £22 or three for £27.
Las Iguanas – Various places
It may be a national chain, but Las Iguanas is still one of the top places to get your fill of Mexican food in the city. The tapas selection is stellar, with world-class patatas bravas, empanadas, meats, seafood and more, all available at low prices – be sure to order the mushroom quesadillas for a real treat. With six London (Wembley, Stratford, Spitalfields, and more), you won’t be short of choice.
