Poetry: Just For A Day

December 15, 2017
Just for a day, a poem by Natalie Sandi.

Sometimes it is easier having another name

Because you can forget your troubles under your own name

You can be someone else for a day

Another choice, another obligation

Just for a day

I can dance in another man’s shoes

Til my feet hurt

And take them off for when I need to return to me

For sure, the pain will still be there

Adopt an accent

Because they’ll never know

Come from Chicago

Who will know the difference?

One’s mind

Is one’s true game.
