An exciting addition to this years already crowded London day-festival calendar is Cross the Tracks. This funky day in June will be bringing the best of jazz and disco to Brockwell Park!
Headlining honours belong to soul legend Chaka Khan, who is performing fresh off of releasing her first album in 12 years. Hello Happiness, a brilliant, modern record which reaffirms why Chaka is so loved and respected in the music industry. She will be sure to deliver a fun, joyous set.
Other acts included Motown icons Martha and the Vandellas, jazz experimentalist Jordan Rakei, the heartfelt and uplifting Eliza and Poppy Ajudha. Alongside DJ sets by pioneers Jazzie B and Norman Jay MBE that will have you dancing until sunrise.
The festival aims to represent the diverse, thriving jazz scenes present in America and London. Bringing together sets from Masego, jazz funk fusion group The Blackbyrds, South London’s own incredible jazz ensemble, Shakedown, Jazzheadchronic (who you may recognise from the Bussey Buildings famed Soul Train night) and saxophonist Nubya Garcia.
There will also be over 40 different food stalls available and an art and record fair to see if you can fit everything into one day! It’s expected to be a great day, keep your ears peeled for our review!
