[smiths] makes a huge effort towards the sustainability of its publication.
Our printers for this year are the kind people at A Local Printer, who use FSC certified papers and vegetable inks for their printing and have been approved by ‘green’ organisations such as Ethical Junction. The full details of their measures to be an eco friendly printer are listed on their website here and are very comprehensive in making sure that all their products including [Smiths] meets environmental ethical standards.
It is not and will never be our intention to use anyone’s work and though we are a student magazine, we do try and put in as much effort as we can to trace and get permissions from copyright holders to use their work. If you feel that we have appropriated your work and not given credit where it is due, we will be happy to discuss this with you (we may have sought permissions from the wrong person, for example) and correct it.
As a whole, [smiths] is proud to support the ethics and clarity of Creative Commons licenses and we apply these to all our works, whether in print or online. Our support of this extends to the basic license that we use for all our works presented here that are done by students, which can be viewed here.
